Members & Friends of the Northeastern District,
Today, the Barbershop Harmony Society announced, with the collaboration, input, and support of all 17 Districts, that district conventions in the fall of 2020 are all cancelled.
This decision was based on the most recent science and facts available regarding the COVID-19 virus, especially how it impacts our ability to gather for rehearsals and conventions in a safe manner.
Your district leadership has been in constant communication both with the BHS, the Judging community, and the rest of the district leaders and recently voted to cancel our 2020 Fall Convention. We will look toward providing an alternative, “virtual” event, the details of which are yet to be worked out.
This has been a very difficult decision to make, however, in light of everything we know, it is the right decision. I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard in trying to make our convention a reality in 2020, first in Saint John, New Brunswick and then in Hyannis, MA. I look forward to the day when it will be safe to sing together once again. Only then will we be able to share our love of close harmony with each other and renew our strong bonds of fellowship, both at the chapter level and at a district convention. I’m convinced such a time will occur.
I appreciate everyone’s support, advice and patience during this time. Even under these trying circumstances, it is still great to be a barbershopper.
